British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson called on President PML-N Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Tuesday and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. They discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, regional situation and various other matters.

While appreciating the cooperation of the British government in the primary education, sources said Nawaz maintained during the meeting that this would further improve relations between the two nations. He said that poor and orphan children are given admission in the Daanish schools where high standard education is being provided. He said that the proper utilisation of the amount received from the British government for the uplift of education sector has been ensured. He said that Punjab government has set up IT labs in 4,300 high schools so that male and female students could fully benefit from modern technology.

Nawaz also said that the country is facing serious challenges and we can march forward through joint efforts and commitment. The British High Commissioner appreciated steps of the Punjab government regarding promotion of education in the province. The wife of British High Commissioner and Maryam Nawaz were also present. Moreover, the PML-N President also met PPP Jammu Kashmir leader Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, member of Royal family of Qatar Sheikh Abdur Rehman and US company head Douglas Helmin separately and discussed matters of mutual interest.
